ABOUT US

Vitara Biomedical is a medical technology company reinventing the standard of care for extremely premature newborns.

Our Neonatal Support Technology, known as EXTEND, surrounds newborns in a fluid-filled environment for 28 days, delaying the stress of early air exposure until their fragile lungs and other vital organs continue to develop. Our technology could reduce mortality by 80% and long-term complications by 45%.

VITARA'S

Transformational Technology

Vitara is creating first-of-it’s kind technology for extremely premature newborns.

01

Fluid-Filled Environment

Designed to provide a protective nurturing environment that shields fragile lungs and supports natural organ development with a greater hope of surviving and thriving.

02

Biologically Inspired

Modeled on natural fetal physiology, the fluid-filled environment is similar to a mother’s womb — offering a true alternative beyond traditional incubators.

03

First-of-it's Kind Technology

Represents a groundbreaking leap in neonatal care, setting potentially a new standard for the tiniest and most vulnerable patients.

Survival Odds

Less than half of babies born before 24 weeks survive today. EXTEND aims to offer a new chance to change these odds.

28-Day Bridge

EXTEND aims to provide up to 28 days of protection, helping infants reach the stage where survival rates climb to nearly 90%.

Reinventing Neonatal Care

Premature birth is the leading cause of death and disability in children under five. Each year, 15 million babies are born too soon—including 800,000 born extremely premature. Nearly one million die from complications, and many survivors face lifelong challenges. In the U.S., the economic toll exceeds $26 billion annually. Vitara aims to advance neonatal care with breakthrough technology to give extremely premature newborns and their families a lifetime of possibilities.

01

Born Too Soon

Premature birth is one of the most urgent and overlooked challenges in medicine. For babies born before 24 weeks, survival drops below 50% and as low as 10% at 22 weeks. Among those who survive, the vast majority face lifelong complications. With NICU stays often exceeding $1 million and lasting up to a year, the human and financial toll is immense. Yet the standard of care has barely evolved in decades.

02

The Current Gap

The current standard of care is not sufficient to protect extremely premature newborns from exposure to air, as their lungs have not developed enough to breathe on their own.  Exposure to air too soon can potentially cause irreversible damage and often reduce their chances of survival or lead to long-term health issues affecting the lungs, heart, or brain.

03

A Gentle Bridge

Vitara’s Neonatal Support Technology, known as EXTEND, is intended to bridge the gap from mom to NICU for babies born too soon. Our technology provides a fluid-filled environment similar to mother’s womb for newborns delivered as early as 22 weeks, which is only halfway to full term, potentially improving their chances of survival and reducing life-long complications.
