A Global Issue.

Approximately 15 million babies are born preterm annually worldwide, indicating a global preterm birth rate of about 11%.

This results in an estimated cost of $26 Billion in economic burden in the US alone.

Defining Prematurity.

Babies born before they have reached 37 weeks of gestation are considered ‘preterm’. Prematurity can further be defined by their gestational age.
